Bristol Friends Meeting History

1701 – Friends hold meetings among themselves

1706 – Samuel Carpenter gives land for the Meeting House and Burying Ground

1711 – Construction of the Meetinghouse was started

1713 – First Meetings for Worship held in the Meetinghouse

1735 – The Meetinghouse was enlarged

1756 – The Upper story on the Meetinghouse was added and completed

1777 – The Meetinghouse was occupied by British Troops for a hospital

1793 – John Pemberton left ground for a schoolhouse

1874 – Bristol Meeting became a Monthly Meeting

1875 – Friends School was opened

1889 – A First-day School began

1911 – 200th Anniversary and laying of the corner stone

1963 – 250th Anniversary of the Meeting for Worship in the Meetinghouse

2013 – 300th Anniversary of the Meeting for Worship in the Meetinghouse

2023 – Dedication of the Labyrinth
